"Tag, You're It!"

What are our names? Eric (his mom thought she'd made up a new name) and Rebecca (biblical).

Who asked who out? Eric called for a blind date the first week of the new school year at BYU - you always said yes, it was protocol :).

How long did you date? 364 days. Our first date was Oct. 1. We wanted to get married Sept.30 exactly a year after our first date but the Salt Lake Temple didn't do weddings on Saturdays in those days (can you imagine that).

Who said I love you first? That was last century - any idea, Eric?

Who proposed? Eric's job after graduation was in LA. After driving roundtrip from LA to SLC twice in the first month he called to say next time he came up he was going to propose and to have my answer ready (did I mention he's a great project manager). We were married 9 weeks later.

How long have you been married? 36 years - September 29, 1972.

Who sings better? Maybe we could say me, but Eric has a nice baritone voice. It's just a matter of experience. I took choir - he went out for wrestling. But he joined our Ward Choir and now can get all the way through "Sixteen Tons" without changing pitch or keys.

Whose temper is worse? Sorry, Hon, I try :).

Who does the laundry? I'm fussy about the sorting, the temp, the speed, the levels - need I say more. But twenty seven years ago when Melynn (#5) was born Eric offered to iron his own shirts and didn't give it back. Thanks, Hon.

Who does the dishes? When you've done dishes for nine for 35 years there are no dishes when there's just two of you.

Who does the cooking? Me, but Eric makes a great Saturday morning omelet and is the drinkmaster, known for his smoothies. They're usually a blend of every fruity thing in the house, with a secret twist.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Mine has been the side closest to the bathroom - wherever, whenever, forever.

Who eats more? It's a toss up these days. The thing about this stage of life is that you don't need the calories you did when you were first married, but you're better cooks - so ); .

Who is more stubborn? If you vary in opinion and find yourselves working toward common ground a lot, but you eventually make it there, you're not stubborn, right?

Who drives when you're together? Interesting you should ask: Eric's always driven. But he's a daydreamer, I'm a 'type A', and age tends to intensify personality. So as it stands now when he drives we both end up driving - each other crazy. Right now 'who drives' is one of those 'working toward common ground' areas.

Who is most likely to admit they're wrong? We're both quick to apologize. hmm.... Is that admitting you're wrong?

Who pays the bills? Me with Eric's money.

Who wears the pants in the family? Depends on the day. Sundays I prefer a dress. Weekdays it's Levis for both of us.

Why do you love your spouse? Eric was the kindest person I'd ever met and I knew he'd be the best father. He's remained true to those ideals .

Who do you want to tag? Cort & Shannon and Tans

Mom, how cute are those answers. So meaningful to the kids who grew up in your home. I like how you scooted around the stubborn issue. I think you're right though. If you eventually get to where you need to be...you're not stubborn.
