I have some fun memories being around you while I was growing up. Mostly I remember the fun times on the soccer field, and the fun drives to the games. Remember when you told us you'd buy us a slurpee if we didn't say the word "like" the whole drive to our soccer game? That lasted about 30 seconds! Those were good times! WOW!! The big '62'!! No matter how old you get, you'll still be young at heart. Our favorite memory of you is making snow angels with Robyn and Makaylie in the winter when they were little and squirting them with the hose in the summer! You're such a great neighbor. Friends inspire friends to do good things. (Like attempting my first blog post on my back up computer).
I have been on the BYU campus all day today and part of yesterday at Dallin's graduation functions. It was a walk down memory lane. As you know you were in about 90% of my classes as we both followed the Honors Program & Civil Engineering path.
I walked past our old Engineering building and tried to remember its name. I do remember that we kept our modified tennis rackets there, so that when the studies wore our brains to mush, we could head to the field house and beat a ball around the racket ball court.
I went into the Y center where we went to church/dances together.
I walked past the library and cannot fail to remember the night I was having a personal pity party (or mental breakdown)regarding my poor math scores the semester following our missions. I was ready to drop classes. You gave me a stong verbal kick in the rear by the deskes on the 4th floor where we always studied. Thank you, I survived the semester without loosing time toward a degree.
Dallin took me on a short cut running around the back of the Richards PE building. we must have been only a few feet through a wall from where you and I spent more than a few hours as junior members of the BYU ballroom dance team.
When Dallin wore red tennis shoes to the Convocation, Teena commented about how silly you and I were regarding our graduation. I think that the black gowns and orange hoods were donned only in respect of our mothers.
I could list other memories on all the places between Utah and California we took our famlies camping, running marathons, and running rivers, but today the BYU memories have been flooding.
Thank you for the companionship and courage for the journey.

What can I say, but you are the best dad any child could ever ask for. What I remember about my dad is that he would give you the shirt off his back... or the sweat pants off his legs... which he did for me one time when I had dance class and nothing to wear, I went into his closet and grabbed his sweats and proceeded to cut them off! I remember he wasn't too happy with me, but said to me, "Next time just tell me and we'll get you some of your own". Dad, you've always told me how proud you are of me, but it's me who needs to tell you how proud I am of you! You are a perfect example in ever way. We love you! Happy Birthday dad!
